The 19th National Book Fair Has a Separate Section for Local Writers

The organizers of the ongoing 19th edition of the National Book Fair at Balrampur Gardens in this city have set aside a free section for local writers to sell their works alongside established publishing houses.

The 10-day event, which was launched on September 23 by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, will conclude on October 2. The fair's book prices range from 2 (pocketbooks) to 40,000. (antique books). The ministry of information and broadcasting's publication division has also set up a stall at the fair.

Books on India, Indian history and culture, and the freedom struggle, as well as children's books, can be purchased at the stall, which is printed and published by the ministry. This stall's discounts range from 10% to 90%.

The fair not only had book stalls, but also one selling plants and another selling tea and other condiments. A stall selling scientific gadgets, among other things, is also present. There is also a food court on the premises. Readers can also obtain books that are currently unavailable. Such books will be arranged by the fair's management and sent by courier by the publishers participating in the fair.

Manoj Chandel, the fair's convenor, stated that the annual event earned its highest earnings of 2.1 crores in 2013 when former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam also attended. 

During the pandemic, however, their earnings dropped to 70-80 lakh, he added. According to Chandel, attendance at the event has declined over the years.
